A lovely evening at Pavillion Park.
Happy Birthday to the USA! This past fourth of Jew-lie many residents of The Lake, where on the invite list as guests of the “friends of the park”. To all you “outsiders” the friends of the park are those lovely and talented folks who raise money through donations, fund raisers and an auction aimed at the well heeled and upper crust crowd. These donations are then used to invite the community to come enjoy the festivities in the park each Friday and Saturday evening. Usually these events involve hanging a sheet up and showing a movie rented from the bargan bin at Blockbuster. Other highlights of events hosted by the park are second rate recording acts. You won’t find most on itunes. These events give all the neat folks of Liberty Lake a chance to gather and hand over their hard earned money to purchase the over priced goods being hawked by the theives disguised as the members of the local Kiwanis chapter. It gives all a chance to feel connected.
I digress, this year the fourth was spectacular. Too Slim and the Tail draggers where the opening and closing act for the wee ones who provided a very clever commercial advertisement for the LIBERTY LAKE ATHLETIC CLUB specifically for the Tae Kwon Do classes offered through the club.
The other highlight of the evening was the breathtaking fireworks display over the lake.
Many Familys where attending with children. I was thankful that the “friends” allowed me the opportunity to explain to my young kids the reasons for the lights, law enforcement and fire
fighting personal and their ambulance making a last minute trip to the park was not for a community relations visit, rather they where arriving as the fireworks show began to attend to a women and man who had overdosed on drugs and or alcohol and had been rendered incapacitated directly in front of the stage!
So We extend out thanks to “THE FRIENDS OF PAVILLION PARK”. Thank you for hosting an event which featured public displays of intoxication and the dangers of overdosing on drugs.

Paradise Tainted,
You’re clearly having a lot of fun with this.
If I was going to pick one aspect of Liberty Lake to defend, it would be our beloved Kiwanis. These folks have given so much back to the community without getting anything in return, it’s almost inconceivable. They aren’t allowed to use concession funds on themselves; the bylaws require that money to be given back in some form or fashion.
But hey, I can appreciate satire and the occasional glances of truth (i.e. LL is not some unfallible paradise) disguised behind the accusations and innuendo.
I enjoy some good criticism as well as the next guy, so I’m looking forward to those “glances of truth” in shots you will inevitably take at The Splash. We always aim to learn from criticism, even if it’s not of the “constructive” variety.
All the best,

Though I did not see or hear about the public intoxication that you spoke of I am curious about one thing…
How can one as seemingly intelligent as yourself blame “The Friends of Pavillion Park” for the wreckless acts of a couple of alcohol/drug abusers. Using your logic, simply by the fact that YOU were there, you too are responsible for this travesty. Shame on you.
Yeah, the Liberty Lake Athletic Club’s “show” seemed like a shameless plug to us as well.
Lastly, I hope you’re not expecting The Friends of Pavillion Park to get bands such as Aerosmith, Garth Brooks or some other mega-band to play there. Seems to me that they are doing a great job with the likes of Too Slim, Leroy Bell a couple of years ago and of course the Spokane Symphony.

To MC,
I believe that all attending are responsible for our own behavior. I am just as much to “blame” for choosing to attend the event than the friends are to blame for providing the event. The main point of my post was not to blame anyone. Rather it was to point out the underbelly of these community events. Bring the family for a movie, band, fireworks. Dont forget the added bonus of the displays of public intoxication.
As for the acts, too slim and company, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy both very nice choices. Winners in my book. Leeroy Bell, not so much. The symphony NO. Big hit with the geriatric crowd though..
THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS.

TO THE SPLASH aka Josh Johnson,
Thanks for the interest in our blog. We are flattered. While this is our first blog of any kind, maybe a little rough (to those in the know about blogs), we are having a blast so far. We also appreciate and are greatful for the recognition of the satire and attempt to provide a sliver of truth to the city dwellers as we force them to look behind the facade that so many are hiding behind.
Thanks for the information on the Beloved Kiwanis Club of Liberty Lake. We were unaware of their bylaws.
As for taking shots at the splash.. We are trying and will when we find something approriate.

I would like you to “expand” on the fourth of “Jew-Lie” comment… Are we (readers of this blog) dealing with a white supremacist? Time for you to GTFO of LL… NOW. There is no “We” in all this vile negativity… only one sad, lonely, hurt individual who will most likely end up in a state run rest-home (If you are fortunate enough to live that long).

Wow, you are S H A R P not to mention funny. Ok silly goose, the use of JEW-LIE was a phonetic spelling of a mispronouciation of the word July. The spelling of a phonetic mispronounciation was a small attempt at humor. We are not racists hate to burst your bubble sweetie.
Have a fine day and keep those comments coming.
Oh and Seattle native, you haven’t responded to my questions directed to you from your previous comment. Are you gonna answer them?
PS: I am to GTFO of LL not likely my friend. Why are you so hostile. Reading our blog is not a requirement it is a choice. Might we suggest that you make the choice to not read this blog especially if it upsets you so
Much. BTW, “if I live that long” could be construed as a vailed death threat.. I hope that wasn’t what you where implying there.
